Thankful list

I know a lot of people are taking this month to daily note some things for which they are thankful....  I don't want to follow that trend - it's too popular for me.  :)  Instead, I've been encouraged to start creating a list of 1000 things for which I am thankful - from the extraordinary to the completely (seemingly) mundane.  With such extremes in our world today, I believe I sometimes fail to remember to be thankful for even the simplest pleasures I have...  I focus too much on what I do NOT like about something, blinding me from  the happiness I originally received.  One of the most awesome things (in my own opinion) about God's human creation is that we are all unique,  one of a kind, distinct.....and He loves us that way perfectly.

I don't know how many items I will add each day or week...I just plan to add as I note them.

So here goes.....

  1. my husband - wow, what a blessing Brian is to me....
  2. Harrison - such an entertainer - his laugh/smile/creativity are a joy to watch
  3. Zachary - caring, strong, independent, will be a great leader
  4. Elijah - Boo Bear - always has an 'I love you, Mom'  :)
  5. my mom and dad - I had the most boring upbringing ever! ....and for that I am SO extremely thankful.  My parents aren't perfect, but I think they perfectly loved me...and they ALWAYS do those special little things for me when I visit.....love it!
  6. Sherri - my bossy oldest sister - sure I terrorized her as the 'baby' of the family.  :)  But she is such a strong woman and loving to the rest of her family!
  7. Amanda - my other older sister  :) - so good with words (even though she doesn't think so) and good at making people feel at home when they are not
  8. Diet Dr. Pepper - yeah, I know...kinda silly, right?  but I do really like it....  :)
  9. my physical health - so many people in our world struggle with illness.  I very rarely get sick...now my mental health is sometimes a different story.  :)
  10. 'Take on Me' by a-ha - yep, makes me smile every single time I hear it and think about 2 special friends of mine (who will end up on this list, too!) It's fun and easy to be young!
  11. being able to stay at home - I know it's not always financially easy (and that burden always falls on Brian), but I LOVE being home with my boys.....sure, I get stressed a bit, but they are so neat and special....and I'd rather them work on their familial relationships than never ever see each other.
  12. CLEMSON - c'mon - I bet most of you are surprised it didn't make the top 10! (but I'm not putting them down in order)...I met my husband here....some of my best friends/times are from here....I earned an engineering degree from here....I earned the degree my dad always wished he had (even though he has 3 others!).....it's just plain gorgeous in the fall!...and the spring....and the winter...and the summer....
  13. PURPLE - it's such  a nice color......
